Timers – Operationally restrictive
IR Sensors – Can misbehave and flicker (positioning).
Light Sensors – Can misbehave and flicker (lighting restrictions, positioning).
Load Detection – We like this but… Same basic result but with more electronics and wiring (resistive wheel sets) etc. We can duplicate the setup where 1st and last cars are triggers (signal doesn’t change till last car leaves block).
Enables DC or DCC operations flexibility.
Extra motherboards or computer circuitry ,software etc. (extra cost)
