Rotary encoders are a digital input device that can increment or decrement a value. They are incredibly useful for GUI navigation, user selection, and more. In this video we look at using a standard 5 pin rotary encoder to change the dwell period of a model traffic light.
When the sketch is started the long and short periods are equal and about 2 seconds. While the sketch is running the user can adjust the dwell of the red or green periods to tune their traffic light.
