Be there in a crash! Car speeds past a traffic light just moments after it turned red before colliding with a turning vehicle.
A car speeding through a red light in Melbourne on Monday learned a harsh lesson in road rules.
Dashcam footage shows a speeding vehicle which appeared to accelerate at an orange light and speed through a red light at a busy Melbourne intersection get hit by a vehicle turning right.
A grey sedan is seen on Lower Heidelberg Road approaching the Banksia Street intersection, as a car on the opposite side of the road appears to wait in the intersection to turn right.
The sedan is not seen in the clip until the light is orange, at which point the driver continues to drive at speed towards the intersection.
Well before the driver crosses into the intersection, the light has turned red.
As the sedan moves quickly through the intersection, it is hit on the drivers side by the Camry which was turning right.
Footage shows the sedan driver panic and brake before swerving to the side, but the collision appears unavoidable.
When the cars collided, the front of the Camry appeared badly damaged and the side of the grey sedan also appears heavily dented as it spins away.
Both cars move off the intersection and people are seen standing around as the formerly red light turns green, and cars begin to move past.
The video was shared to Facebook by Dashcam Owners Australia, and the comment section quickly divided on who was most in the wrong.
Some declared the Camry driver had also run a red light, but others claim and video showed the car waiting in the intersection to turn right, which is legal.
