Carrion Crow Using Car Traffic to Crack a Walnut ハシボソガラス(野鳥)が交差点を利用したクルミ割り

A carrion crow (Corvus corone, family Corvidae) attempting to smash the hard husk of a walnut to eat inside. The street-smart crow dropped it from a traffic signal or an electric cable onto the crossing roads below. Then the crow waited patiently for a car to run over the walnut. You can hear it cawing many times on the cable while waiting. But this crow wasn’t lucky enough to succeed in the nut-cracking trick because the traffic wasn’t so busy at the suburban intersection. The crow had to give up on it in the end. Mid-June 2015 in Japan.
