As I was driving Southbound on Dufferin St. In Thornhill, Ontario I noticed a York Regional Police “community car” driving extremely erratic behind me.I slowed down, as did many other drivers, to allow her to pass. On the way by she gave me the finger. The driver was a white female York Regional Police officer with blonde hair and medium build.
As you can see on the video my speed was about 70-80KM per hour (speeds are listed on the top of the video and are very accurate as done by internal GPS system). The posted speed was 60KM. The speeds of the York Regional Police officer were in excess of 120KM per hour in a posted 60 KM hour zone.
The most disturbing aspect of this video is that the officer almost hit a pedestrian (a child). At the 6 second mark on part two of the video you can see the York Regional Police officer speed through a red light as a mother and child are crossing. This is at the Summerridge/Dufferin intersection. This very same intersection is the scene of two fatalities in the last year.As you can see from her erratic driving she is clearly intoxicated and disobeying numerous laws. The question arises: If the York Regional Police have no regard for our safety or traffic laws why should the civilians have any?
I would also like to note this officer was on her way to a school “community” outreach program. She was doing an appearance at a local school to discuss “safety” and “crime stoppers”. So much for integrity, respect and honor from the York Regional Police.
I have emailed a complaint to Chief Eric Jolliffe (271@yrp.ca) but I suspect nothing will be done. I will also make a formal complaint once I get the officer’s name and badge number.
I will like to note the time is incorrect on the GPS . The GPS time is one hour ahead due to where I was traveling that week.
The York Regional Police car number was A75 and the plate is AVMK-412. I would also like to note that numerous of my neighbors have complained to Inspector Kevin Torrie, District 4 of York Regional Police of numerous York Regional Police officers meeting and drinking beers in the Thornhill Woods P.S. parking lot. This happened numerous times during the summer of 2012. We were warned that we face “criminal harassment” charges if we watch the police.I guess drinking and driving is a criminal offense only for civilians.
