Michael Caine’s initially big movie job as the rather elitist Lt. Bromhead who must do the job alongside Lt. John Chard performed by Stanley Baker when they attempt to defend by themselves with one hundred forty soldiers versus 4000 Zulu warriors. Primarily based on the fight for Rorke’s Drift on the 22nd and 23rd of January 1879. The movie was shot in Africa with some 700 real Zulu warriors and the soundtrack was so extreme that it was reused by Ridley Scott in the movie “Gladiator” with the Germanic tribes crying out the Zulu warrior chants. Go and watch the initially 10 minutes of “Gladiator” and you will listen to the Zulu warriors.
