The traffic light control system for the assumed cross-road follows a simple principle, that is to let the vehicles pass from one side to another in a junction the vehicles from the other side should be stopped. To make this system five indicator LEDs are kept across the junction in the demonstration kit for each of the four ways. The LEDs equivalent with the red, yellow, green signals for the forward movement and two green signals for direction (left & right) turns.
The green signal indicates that the vehicles are allowed to pass through the junction. The yellow signal indicates that the next signal is red but the vehicles can keep moving slowing their speed. The red signal indicates that the vehicles are not allowed to move and need to wait for the next green signal. The two green signals for the direction indicate that the vehicles can take a turn in the indicated direction. If the direction signals are off, the vehicles are not allowed to take any turns.
