STORYLINE:
Sudden snow falls caused long delays in the Balkans on Thursday night, with hundreds of accidents reported across Bosnia, according to local authorities.
Temperatures in Bosnia dropped from 17 celsius (62 fahrenheit) on Thursday morning to -6 (21 fahrenheit) in the evening, according to local weather reports.
Freezing temperatures and often blinding snowfall followed some of the region’s worst flooding for a hundred years.
Several Bosnian rivers burst their banks last week after heavy rainfall. The river Drina that divides Bosnia from Serbia and Montenegro caused most of the damage, forcing authorities in all three countries to evacuate thousands of people.
