The NTU-NXP Smart Mobility Testbed Consortium in Singapore has launched. The consortium is a cooperative effort between industry and university partners to build a real-world environment where vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication can be effectively tested and developed. The launch event, which took place in Singapore in January, showcased the contributions of 12 partners engaged in V2X innovation in areas such as wireless communication design, data analytics and network security.
V2X will bring significant benefits to society by saving lives, helping cars avoid road traffic accidents, limiting congestion, travel time and CO2 emissions. Yet the quest to make driving smarter, safer and more secure requires a testing enviroment where wireless communications between vehicles and intelligent infrastructure, such as traffic cameras and traffic lights, reflect the real cities and roadways we use everyday.
