Project description
Advanced Traffic Control enables to replace the signal controller
in a signal junction with its Artificial Intelligence.
System working is based on giving priority for least number of vehicles in any side of the junction.
Time is allotted based on the number of vehicles in a particular side.
If there is no vehicle in 1 or more side signal will never move to that direction.
In order to avoid confusion in ,where the signal comes next,a precursor (orange colour)signal for starting the engine is given before 5 seconds to the green signal.
The maximum timing for each side can be given as per the research made on the signal(for our project 30 second is given ,which can be varied) .
Highest priority is given to side with the presence of Ambulance ,Fire Engines etc.
so that such emergency vehicles don’t want to wait in any junction.
If all the sides are filled with vehicles, the system works in the existing method and switch to advanced control, only if it is getting a chance to work more efficiently.
It is guaranteed that none of the vehicles wants to wait in the junction for more than the existing timing, however the vehicles are arranged.
The sensors are placed on the road that gives its readings to the columns of matrix
that specifies each side in a junction.
Several troubles occur in finding the least number of vehicles(like frequent occurrence of least vehicles in same side or 2 or 3 sides with constant time periods(first doubt that arise)),which are solved with the help of LabVIEW programmed logic for its smooth functioning.
The system can be applied in any signal junction(except during peak hours when all sides are filled with vehicles,in such situation system check for ambulance and emergency vehicles only)
