Portable Traffic Light

This video showcases our 4th year Mechatronics Engineering design project, a Portable Autonomous Traffic Signal. We set out to create a safe, cost-effective alternative to using personnel to control traffic for temporary lane closures. Our design is compact, intelligent and autonomous, and involves a number of lightweight signal heads connected via a radio network to synchronize their operation. The entire system can be controlled wirelessly using a Bluetooth smartphone.

Designed by Jon Clark, Chris Hennig, Neville Samuell and Matt Wettlaufer, Mechatronics Engineering students at the University of Waterloo.
