9. SOUNDBITE (Farsi) Elahe Daei, robotic engineer:
“We are a 15-member team including two females, me and my friend. My friend is a member of the electronic division and I am in the AI (artificial intelligence.) The only criteria for getting into the team is scientific capabilities. I joined the team in October and since then team members have been helping me to catch up with and meet requirements.”

13. SOUNDBITE: (Farsi) Dr. Aras Adhami Mirhosseini, Mechatronics professor at Qazvin University and leader of MRL robotic team:
“The small-size soccer playing robots, which you see behind me, are comprised of three parts: mechanics, electronics and artificial intelligence. We do all three parts here, by ourselves ranging from designing, making electronic parts and designing artificial intelligence parts. What is special about our team, which has been actively involved in this field for the past five or six years, is that we have made impressive progress in terms of designing mechanical and electronic parts and especially significant progress in the field of artificial intelligence. I should say the A to Z of making robots is done here in the mechatronic research laboratories of Qazvin Islamic Azad university.”
14. Various of Mirhosseini on pitch with robots
15. SOUNDBITE: (Farsi) Omid Bakhshande, MRL robotic team member:
“The world champions (referring to the Thai university team) conceded that we were far better than them in terms of artificial intelligence because a computer is a program and a thought. We are better than them in producing ideas but their team is more stable than ours, they play at a higher level. We are the more intelligent team. It is really important for me to reach such a point to be praised by others in the face of many deficiencies and shortages, which exist because of sanctions, for example, it takes one year before we get a simple mechanical part.”
