With SimWalk release 4.6 SimWalk will provide for the first time intermodal capabilities by integrating road traffic and vehicle modeling. SimWalk Vers. 4.6 will bring the option to add the brand-new SimWalk ‘Road Traffic Simulator’ (RTS) module alongside all other SimWalk simulation capabilities.
The advanced IDM (Intelligent Driver Model) is able to simulate traffic flow in road networks to determine points where congestion is likely to occur and to suggest improvements and modifications in the road lane geometry or signal timing in order to increase traffic and pedestrian flows.
The Road Traffic Simulator (RTS) module will enable transport planners to model comprehensive intermodal simulations in connection with railway, metro or bus station environments.It extends SimWalk simulation capabilities further by introducing a new transport mode, the simulation of road traffic and vehicles.
The demo movie shows a signalized 8-lane intersection with 3 pedestrian crossings in the morning hours.
