RESTRICTIONS: NONE
A search is underway after a small aircraft carrying four people aboard vanished near the Bahamas on Monday.
Search crews located debris on Tuesday about 15 miles east of Eleuthera, Bahamas.
Those on board have been identified as pilot Nathan Ulrich, 52, and his reported girlfriend, 40-year-old Jennifer Blumin. Blumin’s two sons, 4-year-old Phineas and 2-year-old Theodore were also on board when the plane disappeared.
The twin-engine MU-2B aircraft took off from Borinquen, Puerto Rico at about 11 a.m. Monday and was heading towards Titusville, Florida. It lost contact with the air traffic control at about 2:10 p.m. Monday.
The aircraft was flying at a speed of 300 knots at an altitude of 24,000 feet when air traffic control lost contact. The last known location of the aircraft was east of the island of Eleuthera in the Bermuda Triangle.
Ulrich was previously married to Rae Dawn Chong, the daughter of comedian Tommy Chong. She told the New York Daily News that he was an excellent pilot and that if the plane went down it would be because of equipment failure.
