The little housing estate was developed in the 80s from rubber trees plantation estate by Daiman Jaya housing developers (“Daiman” or ‘Tai Ma’ meaning ‘greater Malaysia’, that is Mainland of M’sia). There were rows of small plots of terraced houses made affordable at $24K (ringgit) for the locals. Today, after nearly thirty years & after many had found their roots here and the name of Johor Jaya has become associated with locals, among whom many had lived here growing children of a new generation of Malaysians whose living and survival depended upon the industrial and commerical city of Johor State where once it was solely relying upon plantations and estates ran by managers of foreign corporations. Many convey daily (or ride Vechicles or Motorcycles) to cross over the Causeway to work in Singapore.
