Video detection “sees” vehicles by using cameras to detect changes in pixels. The light stays green on the main throughway until vehicles approach from side streets. When vehicles from the side streets approach, the light turns green for them and remains green for about 7 seconds. If more time is needed, the system is programmed to allow for it.
Here is how to trick the system with a bright light shinning it directly on the CCD camera on top of the traffic light pole. This only works at night from the hours of about 10pm to 6am when the system is set to change quicker when traffic is light.
This is not me timing a normal light cycle. If you look close you can see the light is still red for the other direction from the reflection on the power lines. Only the one direction that is south changed green, the light for north did not. This is the normal process with these systems, only changing the direction of the flow of seen traffic. So there are no tricks here, no waiting for the light cycle. This does work during night time hours if there is once of these cameras.
This is not a Opticom or MIRT or any system that uses infrared or strobe lights to change a traffic light. This is an ordinary LED light that is on many newer luxury cars now and all the Autoscope system does is see changes in pixels. It is designed at night to see the white lights from headlights, or a flashing turn signal to change the light green. This is simply just fooling it to think there is a car in the street by shining the spot light directly at the camera. This works because the bright light floods the camera and tells the computer to change the light green due to the massive change in pixels. So to those that did not think this was true, here is your proof. There is no tricks here, no time cycles on this light to turn green and everything is 100% real.
