demonstration of my working traffic light timer circuit using the PIC16F84A, and a comparison of this circuit versus one I built four months ago strictly out of CMOS logic gates. Even added the side walk timer countdown, which would have been nearly impossible strictly using logic gates. Also worth mentioning, I think I spent at least two weeks designing and then breadboarding the logic version, whereas this took two nights of coding, an afternoon of debugging, and another evening of downloading / setting up the circuit. While I still love logic gates and am glad I learned how to use them, it is just beyond obvious the power of these chips and writing code.
