Great stocky, athletic trail horse. Tyson has a good mind, work ethic, energy, smart, thinking kind of guy. He’s about 14.3 hands and just turned 10. He is light to your hand and leg cues, responsive to your commands, so best for a rider other than beginner. Will follow or lead. Great stop, side pass, and one hand neck reign. Does well with groundwork using lead lines, tarp, bags, etc… Used to bikes, dogs, chickens, traffic, water crossings, farm equipment and easy going with other horses. He is friendly, in your pocket, comes to me or follows when asked. He has been on city and mountain trails. Not spooky. He has a really smooth trot, but can canter as well. He is extremely sure footed and dependable in our rough terrain and a trustworthy mount. Ridden in the Rancho Penasquitos Preserve and surrounding preserves and mountains mostly but also The Topatopa Mountains, Rancho Santa Fe, as well as trailered trips to our local mountains. Although he had shoes when I acquired him, he has fabulous barefoot feet that don’t even require boots and has had no hoof issues at all, but will stand for boots, trimming or farrier quietly. Excellent with ground manners, trailer & grooming. No cribbing, biting or kicking. When I purchased him I was told he did some ranch work as a turn back in the cutting pen in the midwest.
